This is Fire retardant Nano-Fiber Filter media which is far superior to 80/20 for all dust and is best to filter, weld fume, grinding dust, powder and dry chemical processing, and many other general manufacturing applications like sandblasting and shot blasting.

Applications: The media is Nanofiber. Nanofiber is the best filter to just for most all applications except for applications with a lot of moisture, it is specifically targeted for laser/plasma smoke and dust, oily weld fumes and powder and dry chemical processing. They will last 2-4 times longer than the competitions 80/20 cellulose/polyester media which looks on paper to save you some money but costs you more in the long run by having to purchase multiple times. Selection Tips for determining the best filter for your application:
- Understand the different measures of filter efficiency and how to apply them. There are two methods that dust collector filter manufacturers use to express filter efficiency. For example, 99.995 % on particles of 0.5 µm or larger by weight. Additionally, the use of a Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, or (MERV) on a scale from 1-16, with MERV 16 being the highest efficiency; MERV 17 filters are known as HEPA filters.
- Evaluate your cost of ownership. When choosing between two cartridge filters with the same rated efficiency, some simply select the lowest-priced filter. But as with most decisions, the initial cost is only one factor, requiring an evaluation to make the best filter selection. Cheap filters are just that, Cheap. If you see the term 80/20 run away! Choose the Nanofiber filter instead.
- Best advice you will ever get is consider a Nanofiber media even if you do not have a “difficult” dust challenge. Though these filters carry a small extra cost, but the extra small cost for outweighs the long term benefits. Compared to traditional media, Nanofiber filters offer higher filtration efficiencies, better energy performance, superior clean-ability, and excellent resistance to pulse-cleaning wear and tear.
