Each SMOG-HOG®Type MSH-05 self-contained unit is a two-stage Penney-type electrostatic air cleaner designed for industrial service.  It incorporates a centrifugal, motorized impeller type blower with permanently lubricated ball bearings and is direct driven by an IP54 rated air-cooled reverse stator motor.  Airflow capacity is adjustable by means of a variable speed control dial.  A high voltage regulated switching (HVRS) power pack which provides up to 12 KVDC for ionizing and 6 KVDC for collection.  The standard power pack is UL safety specifications and is housed with an indicating lamp in an enclosure mounted on the component access door. Units feature a unicell (one-piece ionizer/cell) construction with easy access through a hinged access door containing the high voltage feed-through insulators.  High voltage wiring is external to the airstream.  The clean air exhaust is diffused vertically from the unit and directed away from work station.  Airflow direction is available in left-to-right, right-to-left and vertical orientations.  Unit constructed of 16 ga. Steel with welded construction and includes single side filter access.  Each unit includes an integral sump with drain connection for runoff of collected liquid contaminants (horizontal only).  All units are horizontal or vertical oriented.  Standard supply power is 115 Volt / 1 Phase / 60 Hz.

UAS’ most recent improvement to the MSH/SHN/SG product line is the revolutionary Mist-Stop filter. Composed of heavy-duty aluminum mesh and a high-efficiency coalescing pad, the new filter dramatically reduces the amount of mist and smoke particles that pass through the Ionizer and ESP Collection Component. So, less time and money is spent servicing and cleaning a unit, because intervals between cleanings increase up to two to three times longer!

Standard on all MSH units, the larger cabinet allows room for the 1″ aluminum mesh filter and an standard 2″ Mist-Stop filter— eliminating the need to add an inlet plenum.
